DomusVi Terrassa Ciutat: a new innovative residence to support healthy ageing

On 25 November 2024, DomusVi marked a new milestone in its commitment to healthy ageing by inaugurating the DomusVi Terrassa Ciutat residence in Terrassa, Catalonia. This new residence stands out for its innovative approach and its setting designed for the comfort and well-being of residents.

With 133 places and more than 8,000 m² of modern, bright spaces, the residence offers an environment designed to promote independence for older people while meeting their specific needs. The five-storey building offers single and double rooms, grouped into independent living units. Each unit has its own lounge and dining room, a layout that guarantees personalised attention and a friendly atmosphere.

The residence also provides common areas designed for socialising and well-being, such as a fully equipped gym, a welcoming cafeteria, and an in-house kitchen. The latter allows for control over the quality of the meals served, with a particular emphasis on the use of local and seasonal products. This choice not only guarantees healthy eating, but also helps to support local producers and reduce the centre’s ecological footprint.

In addition to its modern facilities, DomusVi Terrassa Ciutat stands out for its innovative therapies, including a multisensory stimulation room. This space has been specially designed for residents with cognitive disorders, offering them tailored activities that stimulate their senses and improve their quality of life. This type of therapy reflects DomusVi’s commitment to providing modern care tailored to the needs of each resident.

The opening of the residence has created 90 direct jobs, bringing together a multidisciplinary team of professionals with a variety of skills. Thanks to this diversity of expertise, DomusVi Terrassa Ciutat can offer high-quality care while maintaining a warm and human approach, which is essential for the well-being of residents. For Manel Tumilet, director of the residence, this opening represents a real contribution to the city of Terrassa:

‘We are proud to provide a quality service to the local community through this new residence. Our team strives to meet the expectations and needs of each resident, with the aim of improving their daily quality of life.’

DomusVi Terrassa Ciutat is not just a care facility, but also part of an exemplary environmental initiative. ‘It is essential to ensure that every elderly person can choose how they want to live their retirement, what care they want to receive and what activities they want to do. This right to choose, especially in the context of an ageing population, is at the heart of our care model.’

With DomusVi Terrassa Ciutat, the group is strengthening its leading role in supporting senior citizens, combining innovation, respect for the environment and person-centred care. This residence embodies DomusVi’s vision: to improve the well-being of senior citizens while responding to the challenges of a society undergoing demographic change.
