Our ethics
A comprehensive range of care and services for independent or dependent elderly people

The DomusVi Group’s mission is to provide its clients with the highest quality services, while respecting the ethical principles inherent to its business activities, conducting operations responsibly, and adopting a socially responsible approach toward all stakeholders.
A mission guided by ethics and responsibility
Our Ethical Conduct Charter guides every employee in daily reflection and decision-making, ensuring responsible actions. It aims to support each individual in exercising sound judgment and to encourage ethical and socially responsible behavior, in line with our values and commitments, which are essential to creating sustainable value.
Our Professional Ethics Committees
DomusVi’s Professional Ethics Committees, established in France and Spain, support our teams in reflecting on the ethical dilemmas they may face in their daily work. Their mission is to ensure high quality care, strengthen trust between all stakeholders, and uphold the Group’s values.
Their missions
- – Promote ethical reflection within facilities and home care services.
- – Disseminate and uphold the Group’s values.
- – Develop reference documents and good practice protocols.
- – Prevent conflictual situations.
- – Foster a relationship of trust around the person being supported.
- – Contribute to DomusVi’s commitment to sustainable development.
A structured and multidisciplinary organisation
Created in 2005 in Spain and in 2017 in France, the Committees bring together professionals representing our activities, roles, and generations.
They report to the Country Executive Committees and are chaired by Francesc Torralba, Professor of Philosophy at the University of Barcelona.
All members receive training on key ethical issues: end‑of‑life, vulnerability, justice, deontological principles, care ethics, and transhumanism.
Supporting teams through ethical guidance
When a sensitive situation is identified, teams submit a “case report form”. The Committee then opens a multidisciplinary reflection and issues a consultative opinion.
Since their creation:
- The France Ethics Committee has issued 122 opinions, including 5 specific opinions during the first Covid‑19 wave.
- The Spain Ethics Committee has analysed 127 situations and shared recommendations, particularly during the pandemic.
Resources and tools for employees
Each Committee produces reference materials:
- In France: Ethics and Kindness Charter, My Ethics Notebook, Listening to Choices, Family and Relatives Relationship Guide, as well as an Ethics and Kindness Toolkit. An introductory e‑learning module is also available.
- In Spain: recommendations and practical documents published on www.domusvi.es.
The Committees also assess research projects within their scope, issuing favourable, conditional or unfavourable opinions.
Strengthening action in 2024
To enhance support for operational teams:
- A dedicated ethical support telephone line has been set up (France).
- Monthly practice sheets have been created to encourage ethical reflection.
- A monthly newsletter is shared with facilities and home‑care services.
- An online introductory ethics programme is now available on the training platform.
