DomusVi, the leading company in Spain’s health care and social services sector, inaugurated a new building at the Medium and Long-Term Stay Mental Health Center in Arévalo, in the province of Ávila. Infanta Elena unveiled the inaugural plaque with the Secretary for Family Affairs and Equal Opportunity of the Castilla y León Autonomous Community, Alicia García, the Major of Arévalo, Vidal Galicia, and the Managing Director of DomusVi, Josefina Fernández, and Aymar Hénin DomusVi Group’s CEO, in attendance. The company invested more than 9 million euros in the new facilities, which has 200 beds for people suffering from mental illness.

Casta Arévalo is a Mental Health Care Center for patients with serious mental disorders and psychiatric pathologies of various origins and requiring internment for long periods of time to ensure their recovery or the acquisition of the personal and social skills needed for living in their community.

Infanta Elena emphasized the importance of resources such as the facility opened by DomusVi, which combines quality care with top-of-the-line facilities. She also pointed out that mental health “continues to be a matter that needs to be addressed” in order to achieve an “advanced, inclusive” society, hence the importance of centers like Casta Arévalo.

High-quality facilities
The new building’s 9,394 m² will have 200 beds on four floor with high-quality equipment. The single and double rooms have natural light, private bathrooms and security alarms connected to the center’s professionals. Concerning the common spaces, patients can use the cafeteria, the recreational activities area, the gym, the rehabilitation room, the occupational therapy room, the computer room and the medical and nursing appointment area. There are also large covered terraces and a large expanse of open-air gardens.

The Casta Arévalo complex has a total of 80,000 m² of gardens and leisure areas and includes two other buildings with rooms and common spaces for 100 patients. In all, 300 people can be cared for continuously.

With this new center, DomusVi is strengthening its unquestionable leadership position in the Galician Community, where it manages 31 residences with some 4,200 beds. DomusVi, with more than 19,000 employees, is the largest network of centers and services caring for the elderly and mental health patients in Spain, with a total of 21,998 beds available at 155 residential and daycare centers, as well as homecare units (Home Assistance and Remote Care Service).
